One of my very best friends Kayla is who I would call a fashion geek. I mean, I love her with all my heart, but some people just need help when they shop. She was forever showing up with her latest buy (usually a Gucci purse or DKNY handbag because she has a total purse fetish), grinning ear to ear, while I sat there in disbelief. Every single time that same giant grin would quickly deteriorate into a frown of despair. Usually, after a day or 2 of wearing the Louis Vuitton purse or Juicy Couture bag she would fully understand what I knew immediately. It was a geek purse! And each time she would inevitably end up dumping it in the heap of geek purses at the back of her closet.

Finally, after many such purchases, we got smart and made a deal. Whenever she went shopping, she would snap a picture of the item with her iPhone and post it on my Facebook wall. Then I would comment, “Geek” or “Chic”. Since I am a total Facebook addict it was surprisingly successful. It was kind of like I was there shopping with her all the time.

Of course, as much of an addict as I am, I wasn`t always online when she was in the store. So sometimes she was left hanging and would wander around the store, with the sales clerk peering at her suspiciously, and waiting for my reply. Very awkward! We finally realized if there were more of me the system would work much better. Around the same time it also occurred to me how many other fashion geeks there are out there who needed just as much help as her. And so Geek Purses was born named after the heap of Geek Purses in the back of Kayla`s closet.

Don`t be confused, this is not a blog. It is a community of the fashion chic, and the fashion geeks of the world poised to rid the streets of bad taste one Geek purse at a time! We are no longer only dealing with Kayla`s handbag purchases. Our readers now post all kinds of fashion dilemmas from simple color clash questions like; is it okay to wear green and blue together?
